STUDIES ON THE EFFECT OF PREDNISOLONE TO THE PRODUCTION OF ANTIBODIES AFTER TYPHOID VACCINATION

Abstract
A total of 94persons in a psychiatry hospital were administered predinisolone for two weeks after typhoidparatyphoid A & B vaccination and the antibodies in peripheral blood were titrated.
The results were as follows:
1. High titers of hemagglutination, antiglobulin hemagg lutination, flagelar, somatic and Vi antibodies before vaccination as in typhoid fever patient were noted in many persons of examined. These make the serological diagnosis difficult with a single specimen in Korea in such a person.
2. Hemagglutination antibody is increased singnificantly in vaccinated persons but prednisolone of 15mg or 30mg per day to them makes marked decrease of the antibody in sera compared with the non-treated group. In a total of 10 (21.3%), in prednisolone treated groups of 47 persons the ant-ibody rather dropped by the drug in sera from post-vaccination than the sera of pre-vaccination.
3. Antiglobulin hemagglutinating incomplete anti-body shows similar result with hemagglutination antibody and in a total of 8(17.0%) in prednisolone treated groups of 47 persons indicated lesser anti-body in post-vaccinated sera than the sera from pre-vaccination.
4. The rise of flagellar antibody is not so mar ked in vaccinated person as in hemagglutination and antig¢¥obulin hemagglutination antibodies but the similar effect of prednisolone was observed.
5. Although somatic antibody indicated lesser increase in vaccinated persons but the prednisolone treated group showed slightly higher antibody in blood than the group of vaccination alone.
